Philipp Tanzer

Born 31st of December 1977 in Pforzheim, Germany, moved to Durness, Scotland in 2012 where he runs Phil's Art Gallery

Philipp Tanzer is an autodidact with a fascination for using found objects, metal, wood and plastic as canvas and materials like coffee and ash as paint. Acrylic paint, oil, pencil and other traditional materials are being used as well if that's what the piece of art needs. Every creation is a collaboration between the artist and the material, the inspiration comes from the shape of the object or pre-existing patterns in the material. An essential aspect of this process is to keep the "painting" subtle, connected to and integrated in the original piece, not forced upon it.
